Meyja ist ein Hybrid: Horst Gottlob ist Rockmusiker und Songwriter, während Ingo Weiß die eher instabilen und anarchischen Elemente beisteuert.
Meyja ist Isländisch und steht für das Tierkreiszeichen Jungfrau, in dem beide Musiker geboren sind. Es heißt, Jungfrauen seien besonders einfühlsam und gefühlsbetont. Meyjas Stücke sind unter diesem Einfluss entstanden. Elektronische Klänge kombiniert mit unkonventionellen Rhythmen zeigen einen starken Einfluss des’Nordic Jazz‘, werden aber von an Popmusik orientierten Strukturen zusammengehalten.

Meyja is Icelandic and stands for the zodiac sign Virgo under which both musicians were born. It is said that Virgos are empathetic and emotional and Meyja´s songs have been written with these traits leading the way. Electronic sounds combined with unconventional rhythms demonstrate a strong Nordic Jazz influence, yet are held together by pop-related song sequences.
